Best Buy and Apple today announced that they will start selling the Apple Watch through 100+ chains of the retailer across the country in the United States from August 7.
The companies will also sell the Apple Watch through BestBuy.com and across 300 Best Buy stores in the US by the time the holiday season arrives.
“The Apple Watch is an important addition to an emerging product category, and we know our customers want it,” said Jason Bonfig, senior category officer at Best Buy. “We are excited to bring Apple Watch to more consumers, especially with the holidays coming up.”
The retailer will only be selling the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport variants in 16 different configurations through its store that will be complimented by a wide range of accessories for the smartwatch. The Apple Watch was initially available for purchase only through Apple’s online store in the US, with its availability expanding to the company’s retail stores and other regions of the world last month.
The expansion of the retail availability of the Apple Watch will help Apple in further improving the sales of its smartwatch. The continued expansion of the retail availability of the Apple Watch across Apple’s stores and more markets throughout the world led to the smartwatch sales picking up in June — contrary to what some popular analysts and report claimed.
