Apple today announced that its first retail store in Queens, New York will open this Saturday (i.e. July 11) at 10 AM local time.
The new store is located on the second floor of the Queens Center shopping mall in the Elmhurst neighborhood.
“Jason Barlia, market director at Apple retail said in a statement to the New York Daily News ,”We are really excited to bring our eighth store in NYC to Queens,. When we saw this location it made a lot of sense.”The store — Apple’s eight in New York — will have 130 staff members, with two-thirds of them being bilingual.Apple has recently expanded its retail presence drastically in China, where it even opened its largest retail store in Asia earlier this year. Nearly all the stores of the company in China are unique in terms of architecture and experience. In comparison, Apple’s new store in Queens, New York seems pretty tame. The company has not forgotten its U.S. customers though, as it plans to renovate its iconic Fifth Avenue store in the U.S. this year.[Via NY Daily News]Like this post?
