YouTube for iOS now supports vertical videos and push notifications

Google has updated its YouTube app for iOS to add support for vertical videos and push notifications. Users now have the ability to watch vertical videos in fullscreen while retaining their orientation, so that they’re a lot less painful to watch.
In previous versions of the YouTube app, watching a video in fullscreen forced it to be displayed in landscape orientation. That’s fine for videos shot in landscape, but it meant those shot in portrait were too small to be enjoyed, and had large black boxes on either side of them.
Now, just days after adding vertical video support to its Android app, Google is bringing the same feature to its YouTube app for iOS. Now when you take vertical videos fullscreen, they will remain in portrait orientation and take up your entire display.
In addition to this, YouTube on iOS now supports push notifications, so if you choose to, you can receive alerts when new videos are available from your favorite channels. Of course, notifications are customizable, so you won’t be bombarded with alerts from all the channels you subscribe to.
If you haven’t already installed the latest YouTube update, you can download it from the App Store now via the link below.
