Apple Pay gains support for American Express corporate cards in the U.S.

During the Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced that Passbook would transform into Wallet with iOS 9, and, along with that, Apple Pay would soon support rewards cards, too, expanding the contactless payment option with even more options.
Before iOS 9 and Apple’s Wallet roll out, though, American Express has announced that it is bringing support to its corporate credit cards to Pay, making them the first company to do so. With support for the cards, American Express customers with the correct cards stored in Apple Pay can use them at physical retail locations, as well as within apps where Pay is supported. As far as eligible cards go, American Express shed some light on that:
An “eligible American Express Corporate Card” means the following American Express Corporate Cards issued by American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc. to you as an employee of a commercial card customer working in the United States: American Express® Corporate Green Card; American Express® Corporate Gold Card; American Express® Corporate Platinum Card; American Express® Corporate Centurion Card; American Express®/Business Extra® Corporate Card; and American Express® Corporate Defined Expense Program Corporate Card. Prepaid Cards and other products are not eligible.
Considering the focus on digital sales, or even the growing attention that mobile payment have picked up ever since the debut of Apple Pay, it’s no surprise that support for corporate cards is here. It probably won’t be long before other card companies start supporting their own corporate cards, too.
