Microsoft has introduced a new Remote Desktop app for Mac that’s now available to test in beta form. The update brings a brand new user interface and new features, and you can try it out and submit your feedback today.
The biggest change in the new Remote Desktop Beta is its new user interface, which looks clean and simple and easy to use. But users will also notice that Microsoft has made improvements to the way in which users manage Remote Desktop accounts, and added the ability to use both CMD and CTRL shortcuts during a remote session.
So, if you’re a Mac user who forgets to switch from CMD to CTRL shortcuts when copying, cutting, and pasting in Windows — or vice-versa — then it no longer matters, because both are supported interchangeably within the new Remote Desktop.
Microsoft also promises support for multiple display, clipboard redirection, Remote Desktop Gateway, and more in future Remote Desktop updates. But for now, you can take a look at the new UI and new features on Microsoft’s blog, where you’ll also find instructions on how to download the beta.
Microsoft encourages users to try out the beta today and provide feedback, but be warned: the beta does not yet include all of the features you’ll find in the public Remote Desktop release, and like all previews, it will likely have some bugs and performance issues.
