Apple is already testing iOS 9.2 internally

For those keeping track, Apple launched iOS 9.1 to the public just yesterday, but, as is par for the course, the company isn’t resting on its laurels.
Instead, as we’ve begun to see with site tracking, iOS 9.2 is already starting to creep up and make more of an appearance behind the scenes. Despite the fact that iOS 9.1 is out in the public now, Apple hasn’t released a public or developer beta for iOS 9.2 just yet, which means the pings we’re seeing here are internal testing units at Apple.
As far as the first arrival of iOS 9.2, that happened on September 12. Ever since, though, iOS 9.2 has started to see more of a presence as adoption within Apple’s testing ranks rolls out. These stats have proven to be reliable in the past, and while they can be faked easily, increasing iOS 9.2 traffic certainly lends authenticity to these numbers.
iOS 9.1 wasn’t a huge update in and of itself, even if it did include a whole slate of new emoji to show off, and iOS 9.2 is likely to follow in 9.1’s footsteps insofar that it will be a minimal software upgrade. It is more than likely that iOS 9.2 is geared more towards Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro, which will be launching sometime in November with iOS 9.1 on board, so the new software could be meant to squash any bugs that are found on the large tablet when it launches to the public later this year.
As it stands, iOS 9.2 is being tested in the bowels of Apple’s HQ in Cupertino, but at least we’re starting to see glimpses of the upcoming software, even if its features set is unknown to us right now.
