Apple releases iCloud for Windows 5; adds iCloud Photo Library support and security features

iCloud for Windows
In April of this year Apple released a beta for iCloud for Windows, and at the time it wasn’t known what new features were brought to Windows users.
Now, though, it may be more obvious what Apple was building in the software. As revealed in a new support document, originally surfaced by MacRumors, Apple has recently released iCloud for Windows 5. The latest update adds one specific new feature that should be a welcomed addition to iPhone/iPad users that want to reach their photos in the cloud using Apple’s services, as well as adding an important security feature.
The new software includes support for iCloud Photo Library, which, up until this point, was only accessible via the web portal. Now, though, iCloud for Windows users can access their photos from within the software, without needing the web portal, as long as they’re signed in with the appropriate Apple ID. In addition to that, iCloud for Windows now supports two-factor authentication.
As far as which version of Windows you should be running, Apple suggests that you be running Windows 7, 8, or 10.
