On Wednesday, September 30, Microsoft announced via its Skype blog that it had released an update for the Mac app which brings it in line with the latest desktop release from Apple, as well as adding some new features as well.
Skype for Mac has been updated today, and it now officially supports OS X El Capitan, which Apple publicly released earlier on September 30. With the new software, Microsoft has officially added support for Split View, which means that you can have a Skype window open right alongside another app, without sacrificing the workflow.
Microsoft says that there are other additions to Skype for Mac, including an even faster way to add a contact if they’re also using Skype. Here’s what Microsoft has to say about it:
“Today we’re pleased to release Skype 7.13 for Mac. In this release, we focused on updating Skype to make sure the app supports Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan. We’ve also added support to the new Split View mode in El Capitan, which helps you with multitasking, such as planning a trip with a group of friends on Skype while browsing travel sites on the side. If you’ve already upgraded to OS X El Capitan, please download Skype for Mac today to continue to enjoy the best Skype experience.
We’ve also made it easier to automatically add friends that are also using Skype. Just go to Contacts and click Add Contacts. There you’ll see an option to automatically add people you know in your Mac or other address books. You can also verify your mobile number so that people who have it can easily find you on Skype.”
Skype for Mac is available as a free download from Skype’s website, which you can find a link to below.
Unfortunately for another Microsoft product, Office 2016, users have been experiencing crashing issues all day, with Microsoft continues to try and find a fix.
How often do you use Skype?
