Just a few days after its launch, Apple has updated the tvOS App Store to add a Top Charts section to it. Just like the iOS App Store, the tvOS App Store lists the top paid, top free, and the top grossing applications on the store.
As previously revealed, the top paid apps list on the tvOS App Store is being dominated by games, though SimpleX — a third-party Plex client for Apple TV 4 — is currently the number one app in the store. However, with the official Plex client released for tvOS being released earlier today, SimpleX will likely slid down the ranking over the next few days.
The top free apps list is dominated by media apps, with Nat Geo TV, Fox Now, and Showtime currently holding the top three positions. The lists also reveal that apps and games for tvOS are on the pricier side compared to their iOS counterpart, with games like Galaxy On Fire -Manticore Rising being priced as high as $5.99. It will be interesting to see if the prices of apps and games come down to iOS-like levels over the next few weeks and months or not.
