Are you still using your Apple Watch?

Apple Watch in cup of water
In April, Apple launched its most “personal device” ever. It wasn’t a brand new, ridiculously lightweight and portable MacBook, but a new device altogether for the company: The Apple Watch.
While Apple kept the initial rollout of the wearable online-only to start, and kept it that way for quite some time, the device seems to be doing quite well for itself several months later. Apple recently announced its third quarter earnings, and while the company wasn’t quick, or even a little bit willing, to go into the exact sales for the Apple Watch, they did hint that the device was selling quite well. In fact, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, said that sales had “exceeded expectations” up until that point, with the majority of purchases made in June — two months after the device’s launch.
I wasn’t all that surprised when it was confirmed that sales for the Watch had picked up in June, despite what a lot of analysts were saying, because I honestly expected a lot of people to wait until shipping times started to even out. There are obviously a lot of early adopters out there, but, as Apple’s hints towards sales would indicate, there may be even more people out there that don’t want to wait an extended period of time to actually wear or use what they buy.
Either way, Apple’s statements, even indirectly, regarding the Apple Watch all indicate that the wearable, Apple’s most personal device to date, is doing well enough. More than likely much, much better than any other smartwatch on the market, and that trend will continue well into the future. It’s probably a relatively safe bet that Apple has another hit on its hands, even if that hit will probably never be as popular as the iPhone. A hit’s a hit, and it’s going to generate even more money for Apple.
The question that I have for all of you is: Are you still using it?

I’ll tell you right now that I’ve accepted a smartwatch has no place in my day-to-day routine. The Apple Watch made it the longest of any smart wearable that I’ve tried. Much longer than the original Pebble, and even longer than the Pebble Time (which I bought after I got rid of the Apple Watch, which was clearly an error on my part). I really love the design, and the smart way it handles notifications is huge in my book. But, I just didn’t need it and that eventually turned into not wanting it, either. I’ve got a routine that I don’t really feel like has to be broken just to inject another device into my life, no matter how hard I try. The Apple Watch would have easily been the smartwatch to make that happen, but it just wasn’t enough to sway me.
I’ll praise the Apple Watch all day long, but I can say in the same breath that it isn’t for me, too. I’m okay with that. I can also admit that Apple probably deserves to have another hit on their hands with the Watch, because it is such a great device. The battery life could be better, but everything is eventual (hopefully) and that’ll get worked out at some point in the future.
So I’m curious to know if any of you are in the same boat as me. Did you try out the Watch, give it a real shot, but ultimately realize that it wasn’t for you? Or did the Watch enter your life and make you fall in love with it, to the point where you strap it to your wrist every single day? Let me know where you stand on the Watch in the comments below.
