The “iPad Pro,” an unannounced tablet from Apple, is said to feature a large 12-inch (12.2 or 12.9 display, a few upgrades under the hood, and also include a stylus.
Now, a new report has surfaced that aims to shed some light on a few more details, including what that aforementioned stylus will bring to the table — other than just being something to poke the big display with. Based on a report published by KGI Industries analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a longstanding noteworthy track record estimating Apple’s future plans, the iPad Pro will enter mass production sometime in October of this year.
According to Kuo, Apple will include Force Touch technology with the stylus for good measure, and that manufacturer Cheng Uei will get the exclusive assembly rights for the small accessory. The analyst has noted in the past that Force Touch technology won’t be the biggest selling point for Apple’s upcoming devices, including the iPhone 6s, but that the company will continue to aim to get conformity of features across its devices.
As it stands right now, it’s expected that the iPad Pro will feature a 12.9-inch display, with the majority of rumors pointing to that specific screen size. While early speculation suggested the larger iPad would show up on stage at September’s media event, that’s probably not the case anymore. Indeed, new rumors have suggested the iPad Pro will launch sometime closer to the holiday shopping season this year, so a mass production in October would make some sense.
Are you looking forward to the iPad Pro?
