During the Apple event on Wednesday, the company unveiled the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus along with a handful of other new products. One of the major feature of its new flagship smartphone is 3D Touch which brings a new way of interacting with your iPhone.
With the new feature, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus can now detect how much pressure has been applied to the screen. This means that you can press harder on the screen to perform specific actions. For instance, while inside apps like Notes, Mail, and Messages, you can make the keyboard behave like a trackpad by pressing harder on it to easily manipulate text.
3D Touch is currently available in the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus as they are embedded with capacitive sensors built into the backlit of the Retina HD display that calculate the distance between the cover glass and the backlit which makes this feature possible.
Now an upcoming jailbreak tweak has been teased in a new video by popular Cydia developer Elias Limneos which appears to bring the 3D Touch feature to iOS 8. This doesn’t mean that the tweak will enable your device to differentiate between hard and light presses but rather brings the same actions and shortcuts of 3D Touch to iOS 8, and more importantly older iPhones.
As you can see in the video above, you can get access to quick shortcuts such as creating a new contact or calling someone by pressing the Phone app icon.
The developer hasn’t provided additional details about the tweak as to when it will be released and how it functions but it’s interesting to see how quick the jailbreak community is in porting new features to older devices.
Stay tuned with us to find out more updates about the upcoming jailbreak tweak by Elias Limneos.
