Two days ago, Apple seeded the fourth beta of OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 to developers and public beta testers, and it looks like the beta cycle could be coming to an end soon.
According to a report recently published by MacRumors, the public release of OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 is coming soon, or “the very near future.” Unfortunately, no specific dates could be provided, but it does look like the minor .1 update will bring with it plenty of worthwhile fixes.
That includes a major fix for Office 2016, which as been seeing several issues since July of this year, when the first beta of Os X El Capitan and the Microsoft suite of apps were made available. When the public launch of OS X El Capitan arrived, those complaints of broken compatibility only skyrocketed. Microsoft did release an update for its Office 2016 apps recently, but it’s been confirmed that the major crashing issues that many have been going through were not fixed by that update.
For its part, Microsoft did confirm earlier in the month that it was aware of the issue with compatibility with its Office 2016 app and OS X El Capitan, and that a fix was being worked on.
According to the article, the incoming update will also fix several reported issues with missing server information in the Mail app. On top of that, the new software will also include a fix for the Mail app not properly showing messages or even the mailboxes. Add to that the support of new emoji, including the middle finger, taco, and others, and this update has a bit of everything at this point.
It remains to be seen when the new software will be available, but it is looking likely that it could be right around the corner.
