Apple Pencil has finally begun “preparing for shipment” for those who placed an early order the day the device went on sale alongside iPad Pro. Some customers have been given a delivery date of Thursday, November 19, which means they don’t have too long left to wait for Apple’s first iPad stylus.
Neither the Apple Pencil or the new Smart Keyboard were available when iPad Pro made its debut last Wednesday, with earliest shipping estimates at 5-7 days. Those quickly slipped to as long as 4-5 weeks, leading some scalpers to sell Apple Pencil on eBay for as much as $400.
But those who ordered Apple Pencil quickly — before the shipping times slipped — are now receiving emails to say their order is “Preparing for Shipment.” This is the final stage before they finally switch to “Shipped,” at which point the Apple Pencil will be on its way.
A lucky few in the U.K. have already begun to receive their Apple Pencil orders, MacRumors reports, while those in the U.S. will have to wait until November 19 at the earliest, according to Apple’s delivery estimates. If you haven’t already ordered, you’ll be waiting until mid- to late-December now.
You will be able to obtain Apple Pencil — and the Smart Keyboard — earlier from Apple retail stores. Apple recently confirmed that its retail locations will receive “regular shipments” of both devices, so that would be the best route to take if you don’t want to wait over a month for yours to arrive.
