Some iPad Pro units are unresponsive after charging, fixed with a hard restart

The iPad Pro is out in the wild now, with more people getting their hands on Apple’s biggest tablet to date, but for some owners, there’s a bit of an issue with charging the device.
As reported by MacRumors, and following threads found within the publication’s own forums and on the Apple Support Community forums, some iPad Pro owners are finding their devices are unresponsive after being charged. According to several instances, the tablet appears to be frozen, or is completely unresponsive, or even refuses to wake up, after being charged.
According to those facing the issue, the only way to fix the problem is to hard restart the tablet. After it comes back to life, it seems to be responsive again, and the battery life shows a full charge (as it should, one would hope).
On top of that, the Apple Support Community for the iPad Pro, as surfaced byMac Kung Fu, has seen a huge increase in attention to the same problem, with over 200 comments as of the time of this writing, and more than 5,000 views. One user, “darkfire.shadows” had this to say about their own “dead” iPad Pro:
“At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was “dead”. It wouldn’t wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead.”
As for specific models, the issue appears to hit both the 32GB and 128GB variants, and the 128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model is also suffering from the issue as well. What’s causing the issue, though, still remains to be seen, as it’s not know if it’s hardware- or software-related. Apple, for its part, has had its support team try different fixes, including the hard reset, and also restoring the device to factory settings and essentially trying again.
If you have an iPad Pro, are you suffering from the same issues?
