Apple earns patent for a Beats-branded gaming headset

Beats gaming headset patent
Despite the fact that gaming is a huge market, and Apple’s products have been used as a launching platform for mobile gaming, the company tends to shy away from products tied to the desktop and console markets.
However, that could be changing if Apple ever plans to make use of a patent the company recently won. As discovered by Apple Insider, the Cupertino-based company recently won a patent for a pair of Beats headphones that are obviously geared towards game players. The patent apparently consists only of images, but, as seen above, the Beats-branded headset features a microphone that extends from the left earpiece.
A typical design for a gaming headset. The patent credits Christopher Kuh and Robert Brunner as the inventors of the headset. The two work for Ammunition as designers, which is a studio that has worked to create a range of Beats headphones in the past, including the Solo lineup.
The patent was submitted back in May of 2014 to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, two weeks before Apple would announce its acquisition of Beats for $3 billion.
What do you think? Would you buy a Beats gaming headset?
