Designers create renders for a new, alternate universe Apple TV with Apple Watch design cues

The Apple TV 4 is expected to debut at Apple’s upcoming September 9 media event, along with new iPhones and new iPads, and now some designers are putting renders together of what they believe an Apple TV could look like some day.
Unlike some previous renders of upcoming devices, including the 12-inch MacBook that launched earlier this year, these renders aren’t necessarily depicting what the next Apple TV will actually look like based on reports and rumors. In fact, in the case of designer Hajek, the new Apple TV based on these renders is a far-fetched futuristic set-top box with a glowing logo on the top, and a Touch ID area on the actual box itself. The unit is also reminiscent of the Apple Watch’s design, with an obvious curvature.

Hajek’s rendering of a new Apple TV remote feature a design that’s similar to an iPhone, but this time with an elongated color touchscreen which sits just above physical buttons. That includes a Touch ID button, and there’s even a FaceTime camera on the accessory, too. On the back of the remote there are four individual buttons, along with a circular directional control button — similar to what was found on the 2nd- and 3rd-generation Apple TV remotes.

Hajek’s new Apple TV remote doesn’t seem all that farfetched, based on the reports that have circulated as of recently, and the dual-control input is a pretty interesting idea to say the least. While the actual Apple TV rendering is a it otherworldly at this point, it’s nevertheless fun to look at how designers might consider building an Apple product that would, obviously, cost a bit more than what’s expected.

And, finally, a bit of an update on another recent designer’s creation, this one from Andrew Ambrosino. We’ve already seen his designs for the new Apple TV’s user interface, and now they’ve been expanded a bit, showing off the new Apple TV’s remote with a scrolling list of apps, a new lock screen on the TV, and more.
