iPhone 6s to feature always-on ‘Hey Siri’ feature

Hey Siri
When Apple introduced the Google Now-like “Hey Siri” feature in iOS 8, which allows you to activate Siri without having to press the Home button, it had a major limitation.
It only worked when your device was connected to a power source. Apple seems to have put that constraint in place due to battery life concerns.
AppleInsider is now reporting that iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which are expected to be unveiled in less than 24 hours from now, will feature always-on “Hey Siri” feature, which would be quite appropriate give the “Hey Siri, give us a hint” tagline in the invite that was sent to media outlets for tomorrow’s event. The feature will be very useful while driving.
It is not clear if the feature will be available to other iOS devices, as the latest iOS 9 beta update does not allow the feature to be used without the device being connected to the power source.
Since we don’t expect iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus to come with any major battery life improvements, it is possible that Apple will enable the features at least for devices that were released last year.
If you’ve jailbroken your device, then you can enable the always-on “Hey Siri” feature by installing the free UntetheredHeySiri jailbreak tweak. You can also use the following workaround to use “Hey Siri” without connecting your device to the power source.
We’ll be bringing the live coverage of the event, so don’t forget to join our liveblog to discuss the announcements.
