Less than 24 hours before Apple officially announces the final release date for the final release of iOS 9 to the public, the team over at Adblock Plus has released their browser for iOS and Android.
Adblock started off as a browser plugin for Firefox and Chrome and gained millions of users — 400 million and counting — thanks to its ability to block ads on websites, thereby reducing their load time and saving bandwidth to the end consumer. The team has been testing the iOS version of the browser over the last few months through an invite-only closed beta.
Browse free of annoying ads on your iPhone and iPad with the most popular ad blocker for desktop browsers. Simple to use, private and secure, Adblock Browser also saves you data and uses less battery.Save data and batteryAds can cause pages to load slower, eat up your data plan and consume your battery. Because it has an ad blocker built in, Adblock Browser…* Saves up to 50% data plan* Saves up to 23% battery life
The browser has been released just when Apple is ready to introduce general consumers to ad blocking through Safari in iOS 9. Using ad blockers are not recommend as they will potentially rob online publications (including us!) from ad revenue, which is required to keep the show going. The team over at Adblock, however, says that there are other benefits of blocking content and ads as well, including longer battery life, better user experience, restricting malware and tracking cookies, and more.
On iOS, Adblock is compatible with iPhones and iPads running iOS 8 or higher.
