The folks over at iFixit have managed to get their hands on the iPhone 6s and have torn it apart to reveal its internals. Compared to the previous iPhone 6s teardown from an Australian YouTuber, the one from iFixit is more detailed and reveals some new information about the phone.
Giving an example of how Apple pays attention to details, the team notes that color of the Pentalobe screws at the bottom of the iPhone 6s matches the color of the device. Additionally, they note that Apple has used four adhesive strips around the “perimeter of the phone” to make the display stronger.
After gaining access to the internals, the team comes across the new Taptic Engine, which is considerably larger than the one found on the iPhone 6. To make better use of the limited space, Apple has also reduced the number of display assembly connections to three from four. Thanks to the addition of 3D Touch, the display assembly on the iPhone 6s is 15-grams heavier than the one found in the iPhone 6 (60 gms vs. 45 gms).
The teardown also confirms that the iPhone 6s comes with a smaller 1715mAh battery compared to the 1810mAh battery found on the iPhone 6.
The iFixit team is still busy tearing down their iPhone 6s unit and we will update this article as and when they reveal more information.
