The iPhone 6s is almost here, are you waiting in a line?

iPhone 6s line forming
Right now, depending on where you live (or maybe not), there are lines forming in front of Apple Stores and wireless carrier locations, all in hopes that they’ll be able to pick up a brand new iPhone when the doors open tomorrow.
I’ve waited in lines in the past, and not just for a new iPhone. It’s not something that I’ve ever really been particularly fond of, though. When I was younger I used to not care so much, but that’s for things like video games and movies. In those lines, full of people of like-minds about something as creative as a movie or game, you found stuff to talk about, or even argue about (depending on the game or movie).
Even then, and even being in the majority of those lines with friends, and sometimes a lot of friends, I always would have just preferred to have that video game already on my console so I could play it at midnight. For movies, well, it’s slightly different because I want to see it right then and there, and the only way to do that is in a theater, so I don’t really have a choice. Back then there wasn’t a choice for video games, either, which is why I’m so happy it’s an industry that’s focusing on digital now.
In any event, waiting for the iPhone is sort of like the video game for me, and not the movie. Getting it at 8:00 AM sounds really nice, but getting up at 3:00 AM just to sit in a line with people I don’t know, who are probably groggy and upset that they’ve been there that long, or longer, just for a phone never sounded all that appealing. And that was back then. Now that I’m older and have even less desire to be in front of a wireless carrier’s retail store at 3:00 AM, well, launch day delivery sounded too good to pass up.
So that’s what I did this time around. I was lucky enough to get launch day delivery and my iPhone 6s has been in transit since Monday. (It actually went the wrong way last night, and it’s now even further away from me than where it started, but as long as it gets here tomorrow I don’t care.) A part of that decision comes from the fact that I live an hour away from the nearest store that I’d have to wait in front of, so I imagine many of you would understand why I wouldn’t want to make that trek.
So now I’m trading standing in line for a few hours, to waiting impatiently at my place, staring out the window every time a large vehicle drives by. Reflecting on it now, I’m not sure which is better.
Do you plan on waiting in a line to get your iPhone 6s or 6s Plus? Are you already in a line while you read this? Or did you decide to skip the lines in favor of shipping, too?
