Apple launches ‘Then and Now’ site to honor the iMac lineage

Then and Now iMacs
On October 13, Apple launched new iMacs. One with a new 4K display, and updates to the current 5K iMacs to make them even better.
Apple has been making desktops within its iMac lineage for a long, long time now, and the company says it has always had one goal: an unwavering commitment to craft the ultimate desktop computer. While Apple continues to work in that direction, the company has offered a quick look back at the differences between the iMac it launched in 1998 and the current desktop machine.
It begins with a statement:
“In 1998, iMac reinvented the computer for the Internet age. It was fun and simple to use, yet powerful and full of advanced technology. And just as the world has evolved in ways no one could have imagined, so has iMac. The proof? The latest iMac, with its impossibly thin enclosure and brilliant display, which together create the most immersive desktop experience there is. See how today’s iMac compares with the original.”
From there, the page is a quick flick of the trackpad to see how the older model compares with the current machine:
  • 14 million more pixels
  • 62,000 times faster graphics
  • 366 times more processing power
  • 1,000 times more RAM
  • 750 times more storage
The page is a quick look at how evolution has impacted the iMac lineup, and a surefire way to honor the lineage that has brought the iMac to where it is now. You can check it out in the link below.
