New Apple TV 4 delivers 3D games and movies to supported TVs

A 3DTV-compatible game on Apple TV 4
The new Apple TV, which is now being delivered to customers after going up for pre-order earlier this week, has a trick up its sleeve Apple didn’t tell us about. On modern TVs that are capable of displaying 3D content, the Apple TV can deliver 3D games, movies, and more.
Support for stereoscopic 3DTV content was spotted by developer Steve Stroughton-Smith, who found it already baked into Bugdom 2, a game from Pangea Software that’s already available from the tvOS App Store.
“Oh wow. Bugdom 2 on tvOS supports 3DTVs. That’s crazy and unexpected,”Stroughton-Smith tweeted. “That’s so trippy.”
Bugdom 2 isn’t the only game you can play in 3D, either; another four titles from Pangea — Air Wings, Nanosaur 2, Nucleus, and Otto Matic — all have 3D support baked in, Touch Arcade reports. We’ll likely see lots more 3D apps and games from other developers over the coming months, too.
This may also mean that Apple will begin offering 3D movies and TV shows in iTunes soon. Of course, to enjoy 3D content on your new Apple TV, you’ll need a compatible 3DTV, and 3D glasses if they didn’t come bundled with your set.
If you have all these things, be sure to check out 3D support in Pangea’s games. If you already own the iOS versions, they’re free to download on tvOS, and they can be played with either the Siri Remote that comes with Apple TV, or a tvOS-compatible gamepad.
