At the end of 2014, Chevron announced that it would be supporting Apple Pay at the pump at some point in the near future.
Fast forward several months, and Chevron has just announced that it has launched its pilot program for Apple Pay as an option to pay at the pump. To start, as confirmed from the company’s official Twitter account, Apple Pay is available at a single station in San Ramon, California. Chevron didn’t have a clear timeline in 2014 as to when the option would rollout, and while it’s only at one station for now, it’s at least a start from a company that was listed as an Apple Pay partner almost right from the start.Chevron also confirmed in the same tweet that Apple Pay support would appear in Cupertino “soon.”
Apple Pay is supported in the retail location of some Chevron and Texaco locations already, but many Apple Pay customers want the option to use the mobile payment option at the pump.
