Hulu, one of the most popular TV and video streaming services, has just updated its iOS app to support the Apple Watch.
With the update, the Hulu app becomes a remote control, bringing quick playback controls to the smaller display. There are several options, including the ability to play or pause the content playing on your iPhone, as well as rewind by ten second intervals. The ability to control captions is also possible now from the Apple Watch.
While playback on the iPhone is obviously the main draw for the new app’s functionality, a user can also control the playback on some other devices, including home video game consoles, and even the Google Chromecast. There’s an option on the main screen of the Apple Watch app that offers “Choose TV Device,” and once the device is selected than playback can be controlled via the Watch.Hulu is a free app, but there is a monthly subscription to access the most content from the service. If you haven’t already installed the app, a link to it is below.
Here’s the full breakdown of the update, which bumps Hulu to version 4.4.0:
  • Apple Watch support is here! Use your Apple Watch as a remote to control your playback experience and captions on Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and Chromecast
  • Performance improvements and bug fixes
