Ford today released its brand new Apple Watch app, which lets vehicle owners locate and unlock their Ford car, and control things like air conditioning remotely.
Developed by Ford engineers, the new Apple Watch app is an extension of the existing MyFord app for iOS, and it’s compatible with select electric and plug-in hybrid Fords, including the C-MAX Energi, the Focus Electric, and the Fusion Energi.
“The app gives drivers the ability to quickly check important data like available range before leaving on a journey – without having to access the mobile application on their smartphone,” said David Hatton, Ford manager, Connected Vehicles and Services.
“The app can also notify users when their car is fully charged, helping a driver be courteous to other electric vehicle owners so they can free up the charging spot or avoid fees applied at some charging stations when you overrun your time after the charge is complete.”
MyFord on Apple Watch comes with a Glance view that allows users to swipe up for speedy access. In addition to being able to lock and unlock your vehicle, MyFord is capable of controlling air-conditioning, monitoring the battery status of electric vehicles, and providing a “last trip summary.”
The last trip summary allows drivers to monitor their driving score, which is based on miles per gallon, trip miles, and braking and driving efficiency.
