During a Dreamforce keynote on Wednesday, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella used an iPhone to demonstrate the company’s Outlook app on iOS. But it wasn’t just an iPhone. According to Nadella, all the Microsoft apps installed on it made it an “iPhone Pro.”
“So I want to first start off on this iPhone, and it’s not my phone, but it is an iPhone,” said Nadella, as the audience chuckled. “It’s a pretty unique iPhone… I like to call it the iPhone Pro because it’s got all the Microsoft applications on it… it’s pretty amazing.”
Nadella was clearly referencing the iPad Pro that was just announced by Apple. If you didn’t see the Cupertino company’s keynote, it actually invited Microsoft employees onstage to demonstrate the company’s Office apps on the tablet’s 12.9-inch display with Apple Pencil.
As Nadella demonstrated Outlook, he called it “the best email client on iOS for Gmail and Exchange.”
Microsoft didn’t announce any new products at Dreamforce, but the company’s presentation did showcase a number of the applications it is working on for various platforms. After he finished demonstrating apps on the iPhone, Nadella said, “let’s move on to my Windows Phone, which I use more often.”
