As it stands right now, Apple keeps sales of its warranty program, AppleCare, pretty much in house, save for some wireless carriers.
That could be changing in September, though, just ahead of the expected launch of the next iPhones and iPads. According to a report published recently by 9to5Mac, and citing unnamed sources, Apple is planning on rolling out AppleCare for Macs, and AppleCare+ for the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, to Best Buy stores. The rollout for the warranty offering is said to begin the week of September 14.
If a report earlier in the month of August pans out, then Apple will unveil the new devices on September 9, which means the rollout of AppleCare in Best Buy stores will probably be a week before Apple actually launches the new devices.
It’s worth noting that the AppleCare and AppleCare+ offers aren’t changing, but you are also getting Best Buy’s standard warranty for products bought through their stores, too. What’s more, Apple-branded devices that are purchased through Best Buy will be able to get serviced, or replaced, through Best Buy or an Apple retail store.
What do you think of the expansion of Apple’s and Best Buy’s relationship?
