If you are jailbroken and use iMessage frequently then at some point, you must have heard of a jailbreak tweak known as TypeStatus. Hashbang Productions has now released a new version of one of our favorite jailbreak tweaks called TypeStatus 2 which has been re-written completely for iOS 8 and fixes a lot of bugs that were present in the predecessor.
TypeStatus lets you know when someone starts to type an iMessage by displaying a typing indicator in the Status bar. Likewise, you will also be notified when your iMessage has been read by a recipient.
Up until now, the tweak was in the beta stages and available for private testing but the team has decided to make it available to everyone now that it is more stable. To get your hands on it, TypeStatus 2 is available in the following repository: http://cydia.hbang.ws.
Compared to the previous version, TypeStatus 2 doesn’t come with any new features. It is just a more stable version of the predecessor that fully supports iOS 8 now.
The tweak also comes with a preferences pane available in Settings where you’ll find a section for choosing the type of alert for the read or the typing notification. You can switch between overlay notifications and Status bar icon. Additionally, you can adjust the duration of the notifications overlay as well as customize its animation by enabling or disabling fade and slide animations.
Overall, TypeStatus 2 is a more stable version of its predecessor that fixes a lot of known bugs and makes it fully compatible with iOS 8. If you already have the old package, it’s recommended that you remove it and install TypeStatus 2 for a more seamless experience. The tweak supports iOS 7 devices as well.
