While Verizon Wireless made waves recently with its own data plan changes, by axing two-year contracts altogether, AT&T is taking a quieter path while it shakes up its own offerings.
The Big Blue carrier officially announced the changes on August 14, but they won’t go into effect until August 15. As the graph above shows, there are a few key changes that AT&T is making, and offering a bit more data per month for subscribers paying $100 per month. First and foremost, AT&T is ditching the 1GB and 3GB options, and instead offering a 2GB per month option instead, all for $30 per month. The carrier is also ditching the previous 6GB/$70 plan, and replacing it with a 5GB/$50 offering instead.
The big change is the $100 per month plan, which, previously, offered 10GB per month. Now, though, AT&T is offering 15GB for $100 per month, while the carrier is also dropping the 20GB plan to $140 per month. It’s worth noting that AT&T is also offering unlimited calls and texts to Mexico and Canada in its 15GB and 20GB options.
These new plans will be available tomorrow, August 15, and AT&T says they are only available for a limited time — but the carrier doesn’t say when they’ll stop being available, either.
What do you think of the new plans?
