A report from The Wall Street Journal claims that Apple is closely working with 40 tech companies to make iPad a better business and productivity tool. The program, dubbed Mobility Partner Program, comprises of both big and small little-known companies.
The Cupertino headquartered company has seemingly made this move to grab a pie of the $2 trillion that enterprises spend on devices every year. By working closely with such companies, Apple will be able to make iPad a better productivity tool, which in turn should help in increasing its sales.
Some of the participants of this program include Xero Ltd., a small time accounting firm; field-service software firm ServiceMax Inc.; Revel Systems, MobileIron Inc., ScrollMotion Inc., and more.
Apple has even invited officials from Xero Ltd. and other partners to visit its office and train the company’s business specialists about their work and their needs.
These companies “are developing iOS solutions across industries that will empower employees and usher in a new era of productivity,” an Apple spokesman said.
Apple is also reviewing the apps developed by its partners and giving them suggestions to improve it further. The suggestions are very detailed like the words which should be shaded in gray. The partnership is also helping smaller companies as they are easily able to get Apple to help their customers with a problem in any of their device.
Apple and its partners seem to be focusing equally on big and small clients with MPP. The company helped PREP Cosmetics LLC to switch to an accounting software from Xero that automates most of the work, which thereby allows the owner of the small company to focus on strategies to further grow the business.
With sales of iPad slowing down, it makes sense for Apple to try and improve the productivity of the device, which should lead to more enterprises adopting it in their workflow.
