Cydia features a ton of jailbreak tweaks that enhance the Messages app by providing additional features and customization options. Convos is a new jailbreak tweak that brings a host of new features that are missing from other Messages tweaks.
The tweak allows you to customize the appearance of the Messages app as well as enjoy new features. These include the ability to pin any conversation that you’d like so that it stays at the top of the conversation list, mark any conversation as read or unread with a swipe gesture, sort them alphabetically instead of by timestamp as well as load more messages in a conversation.
As for the customization options, you can hide or unhide separator lines, chevrons and URL/event highlights, choose a custom color for the table background, sender, summary and date label as well as unread indicator.
Once installed, Convos adds a new preferences pane to Settings where you’ll find the corresponding configuration. The pane is divided into two sections, one for configuring the features of the tweak and the other for customizing the interface of Messages. What I like about the preferences pane is that it is well laid out and contains a description beneath each option explaining what it does.
Personally, the only features of the tweak that I find useful is the pinning of conversations and marking them as read or unread. The customization options will appeal to users who are looking to bring a new look to the Messages app.
Convos is available for $1.29 on Cydia’s BigBoss repository and supports iOS 8 devices only. Let us know what you think of the tweak in the comments below.
