The Apple Store, both online and in physical storefronts, saw a strong quarter in 2015, thanks in part to one of Apple’s newest products.
On July 21, Apple officially announced its third quarter 2015 earnings, and while the Apple Watch wasn’t specifically mentioned in the earnings, it would seem that the wearable did indeed have a big role to play in Apple’s strong quarter. Especially for the company’s stores. The company revealed during its follow-up conference call that the visits to physical Apple Stores has gone up 49%, and most of that traffic was driven by interest in the Apple Watch.
Moreover, Apple also revealed that there are now 456 physical retail sites across the globe, with 190 of those located out of the United States. Apple has plans to have 40 stores open in Greater China by the middle of 2016.It’s no surprise that Apple Stores continue to do well for the company, and Apple was happy to note that mobile traffic to its online store matched that of desktop traffic for the first time, too.
As far as revenue goes, Apple announced that its store had a 24% growth in revenue. Within the services category alone, which includes AppleCare, Apple Pay and more, Apple saw a record $5 billion in revenue for the quarter, which is up from $4.5 billion from the same quarter one year ago.
