Beats 1 was announced alongside Apple Music. It’s Apple’s global radio station, and it’s hosted by the likes of Zane Lowe and others. It officially went live on June 30.
Now, the official Beats 1 Twitter account had something worth announcing this morning: The global radio station will be the exclusive home for announcements regarding the upcoming Video Music Awards (VMAs) nominees. While Beats 1 may be a global-reaching radio station, where a wide range of music is played 24×7, it’s also meant as a way for music fans to keep connected to news and other artist-related information. This partnership with MTV is a clear sign that Apple wants Beats 1 to be a go-to source for music and its fans.
Beats 1 will announce the VMA nominees on Tuesday, July 21, at 7:00 AM PT/10:00 AM ET.
