AppleCare+ is getting streamlined for purchases made internationally for the iPad and iPhone, according to a new report.
Published by 9to5Mac recently, it cites a video put together by AppleCare Chief Tara Bunch, published for Apple Store employees. The video outlines how AppleCare+ will be streamlined to get added to devices much easier in international markets, which should make it much easier for travelers. Mentioned in the video, if a traveler makers their way from Hong Kong to the United States and buys an iPad or iPhone, along with AppleCare+, that warranty will transfer to Hong Kong, too.
Up until this change, transferring that ownership of AppleCare+ to the home country wasn’t an easy task, and for Europeans it might remain that way, too. According to the report, for Europeans, the automated transfer of AppleCare+ won’t be available, due to regulations and insurance. Those in Europe will have to call into AppleCare to get their warranty transferred.
As an added bonus, AppleCare+ will apparently be expanding to Turkey, Spain and Brazil “as soon as [Apple] can.” It’s also likely that these new additions will get the simplified AppleCare+ transitions, too. Right now, AppleCare+ is available in the United Kingdom, China, Canada, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Hong Kong, Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Singapore. Along with the United States.
Have you ever had to transfer AppleCare+ from country to country?
