‘The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs’ is an opera set to premiere in 2017 detailing Jobs’ life

Revolution of Steve Jobs
It’s just been announced that the biopic focused on Steve Jobs will be the Closing Night film at this year’s BFI London Film Festival. But what about fans of the opera?
That’s where the Santa Fe Opera comes in, which has recently announced a brand new performance from librettist Mark Campbell and composer Mason Bates, which is set to premiere in 2017. It’s entitled “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs,’ and it will reportedly detail the complicated life of Apple’s former CEO, who died in 2011, and not just in his professional life, but also in his personal one as well.
The opera will include plenty of individuals from Jobs’ work life, but will also apparently include several from his personal life, too, including his wife, and go into detail about Jobs’ relationship with his daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs.
The opera will begin being workshopped in San Francisco this September, by way of the Santa Fe Opera working with Cal Performances at UC Berkley, along with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. It will be interesting to see, as this develops, how it compares to the aforementioned Steve Jobs biopic, and even the upcoming documentary The Man in the Machine, which has already been slammed by current Apple executives.
Would you see an opera based on Steve Jobs’ life?
