In his latest report, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the mass production of the ‘iPhone 6s’ and ‘iPhone 6s Plus’ has been delayed by 1-2 weeks.
This delay, however, will not affect Apple’s plan to unveil and launch the new iPhones sometime around mid-September. The analyst does not specify the exact reason behind the delay, except for mentioning that the handsets will now enter into mass production from late-August instead of their scheduled mid-August timeframe.
Kuo also notes that Foxconn will be producing nearly 60 percent of the total iPhone 6s units this time around for Apple, with the rest 40 percent going to Pegatron. The iPhone 6s Plus, however, will be completely produced by Foxconn. The slight delay and the huge demand for the new iPhones at launch will lead Foxconn to make some of its factories work over time, including the one in Zhengzhow.
A separate report from a Taiwanese media also claims that Apple has reduced the orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to make room for the production of new iPhones. With the sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus expected to slow down due to the anticipated launch of the new iPhones, this move from Apple should not really come as a surprise.
The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are expected to be unveiled in mid-September with a faster A9 chip, 2GB RAM, Force Touch display, a 12MP rear camera, and a Series 7000 aluminium made body.
